14 Fabulous Primal Snacks

Be prepared.

The transition from being a sugar burner to a fat burner can get bumpy.  I want you to honour hunger and eat primally when you are hungry.  Have some primal snacks on hand.

Willpower is finite, it runs out – don’t deprive yourself all day as you will find yourself reaching for the ice cream at 8pm.

Aim for snack foods that are rich in GOOD FATS such as nuts, coconut oil, nut butters, butter, avocado, meat and eggs.

The Top 8 Primal Snacks are:

  1. Berries, local grown in season – ideally
  2. 70%+ dark chocolate
  3. Fish – canned herring, mackerel, salmon, tuna, sardines
  4. Hard boiled eggs
  5. Jerky (check ingredients)
  6. Macadamia nuts
  7. Olives
  8. Vegetables with nut butter spread

 

Sweet Treats

If you have a bit of a sweet tooth and know that a handful of olives won’t cut it, don’t despair!  You can enjoy the most nutritious version of sweet treats possible.   It may take some taste bud adjustment but it is well worth it.  None of that sickly sweet after taste with these delicious snacks!

  1. Snickers Fat Bombs 
  2. Raw Chocolate
  3. Snickers Smoothie
  4. Keto Chocolate Thick Shake
  5. Keto Caramel Slice
  6. Bowl of full fat Greek yogurt or coconut yogurt with a few berries

It can be a good idea to have some of these snacks on hand for emergencies!  I always have the Keto Caramel slice in the freezer and it hits the I need something sweet/or a biscuit/ or give me ice cream now spot!  Find something that you like and have the ingredients to make it on hand.

The basis of primal eating is PLANTS & ANIMALS, that is what the majority of your food will comprise of, with these snack ideas to tide you over or for your full eating pleasure.

Eat mindfully, sit down, take a deep breath and ENJOY your food, savour every taste and mouthful.  Simple practices like this can go a long way to help you achieve your health intentions.
